I’m Erika Sagert. I’ve been married to my husband, Trent for nearly 30 years. I am a veteran homeschool mama and homeschooled all of my children through high school. Three of my children have finished college already. One has moved on to Medical School. In the past, I’ve taught elementary, middle, and high school, and I’m currently the director of Hope Learning Center here in the Pacific Northwest in the Vancouver, WA area.
I created The Intentional Homeschooler to support busy homeschool moms because I’ve been there, and I know and remember exactly how hard it can be.
Let’s bypass the burnout! Let’s avoid the heartache and regret, but let’s keep that passion.
Homeschooling your children can be rewarding and fulfilling for you and your children. It doesn’t have to come at the cost of your relationships or sacrificing the entire household’s sanity.
I struggled when it came to learning. It was really difficult for me. Through the struggle, I learned tenacity and grit. As a teacher and mentor, I know how hard it is for struggling students and parents. My approach comes from a place of empathy, understanding, and patience.
I’ve taught several different levels from elementary to high school, not to mention successfully homeschooling my own children for twenty years. I advise families from all sorts of situations, scenarios, and circumstances. I have a wide breadth of knowledge and understanding of the homeschool journey from the day to day to the bigger picture.I will take the fear, doubt, and worry out of homeschooling for you so you can create the best homeschooling experience for your family.
In the world of homeschooling, we pour our hearts into providing a strong academic foundation. But what about the crucial step of helping our children identify their passions and translate them into fulfilling and meaningful work? I understand this deeply. As a homeschool mom myself, I've made it my mission to guide my four children toward their individual callings. The results speak for themselves: one is on their way to becoming a doctor in medical school, another is preparing for law school after recent acceptance, my daughter has proudly earned her interior design degree, and my youngest is passionately pursuing her nursing degree. I firmly believe that guiding our students into meaningful work is not just important – it's essential for their long-term happiness and societal contribution. It's about helping them find their "why" and equipping them with the tools to pursue it.
If you're ready to move beyond academics and intentionally guide your homeschool students toward discovering and pursuing their meaningful work, I can provide the support and strategies you need!
